New York is one of the 35 states suing the maker of a medication used for treating opiate addiction.

Yesterday, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman accused Indivior, the makers of Suboxone, of abusing their monopoly to keep generic versions of the drug off the market for five-years.

The lawsuit claims that when the patent on Suboxone was reaching its expiration, Indivior tried to coerce patients to switch from a tablet form of the drug to a dissolvable film version of the drug which had a separate patent.
