Former West Carthage judge arrested, accused of taking bribes
Posted by news on 11/30/2016 4:43:00 AM.

An ex-North Country village judge allegedly received sexual favors from a defendant in order to reduce a court-ordered fine.

Former West Carthage justice Delmar House is facing felony third-degree bribe receiving and felony receiving a reward for official misconduct.

The incident in question reportedly happened in spring of 2015.

The 49-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges on Tuesday.

It was last March when House resigned for what he claimed were health and personal reasons. A short time later, though, the state's Commission on Judicial Conduct said House had agreed to never seek or accept a judicial office again. That was allegedly due to his involvement in a "alcohol-fueled" incident with someone at a local bar.

After being arraigned Tuesday, House was taken to Jefferson County Jail on $10,000 bail.
