City Council Meets Tonight

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Watertown City Council will hold their meeting tonight at City Hall.

Baseball will be one of the items on the agenda tonight at the council is being asked to approve a franchise agreement for the Watertown Bucks next year at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds. The Bucks just completed their inaugural season this summer and team owner Bruce Zicari has indicated plans to return next year despite low attendance and losing their original league before playing their first game. The city is also being asked to accept property at 825 Academy St. Wells Fargo, the bank in charge of the property, is offering the home as well as $15,000 to help fix it up. Money for the city's fire department is also on the agenda tonight as the council is being asked to consider approving the purchase of a $460,000 pumper truck. The meeting gets underway at 7 pm tonight.
