A Jefferson County native who died last month while training with the Vermont State Police apparently told authorities he was "fine" moments before collapsing and later dying.

Those details contained in the report prepared by Vermont officials investigating the death of 28 year old Kyle Young, formerly of Brownville. Young passed away September 17 after training with a special unit of the Vermont State Police. The cause of death was later ruled to be as a result of heatstroke. Young stopped moving while approaching a hill during the training. CPR was performed at the scene and he was later taken to a nearby hospital where he died. The temperature at the time of the collapse was 82 degrees according to the report. The Public Safety Commissioner in Vermont has called for a review of practices and procedures following Young's death.
