Those making minimum wage in New York State will earn more beginning today.

In New York State, the minimum wage goes up to $9 an hour, a twenty five cent increase from the previous wage. Fast food workers in New York State will be making even more. There wage increases to $9.75 and hour. Those same workers in New York City will be making $10.50. The fast food hike comes following recommendations by a special wage board and were approved by Governor Cuomo. The plan calls for a $15 and hour wage by 2020. The base hourly rate for restaurant workers will increase $7.50.
