DEC asking for help pulling water chestnuts from the water
Posted by news on 7/12/2016 4:48:00 AM.
Water chestnuts can be good in certain dishes when it comes to eating, but they're apparently really bad when it comes to water and boating.

They actually form tangled mats of weeds and leaves on top of the water that can get caught in boat props and even block light from plants and fish underneath.

That's why DEC officials are asking for voluteers to help pull the water chestnuts from the South Sandy Creek boat launch in the Lakeview Wildife Management Area in Ellisburg.

If you can help, join the DEC there between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today.
