Despite conviction, former New York Senate Majority Leader remains free

Former New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam may not be going to prison for a while. Yesterday, Reuters reported that a decision came from a Manhattan federal judge allowing the two to remain free on bail pending appeal because they aren't flight risks.

The judge said that the recent Supreme Court decision that overturned a former Virginia governor's bribery convictions may have also tainted the corruption convictions of the Skeloses.

The two were convicted and sentenced to at least five-years in prison each for fraud and bribery charges earlier this summer.
