Mental health to be added to school district's curriculum

Starting in two years, school districts throughout New York will have to add mental health to their already established health curriculum.

Students have already been learning about alcohol, drugs, tobacco and cancer awareness. Now they'll also be taught the signs of mental illness and ways to potentially find help for anyone dealing with the disease.

With Governor Andrew Cuomo signing the bill Monday, the updated curriculum will go into effect in July of 2018.
