An Akwesasne woman allegedly tried avoiding a vehicle inspection at the Cornwall border crossing. Law enforcement officials say the reason is because 31-year-old Justine Jacobs had close to 200 pounds of tobacco in her car.
Jacobs allegedly ignored border agents as she drove at a "high rate of speed" toward Cornwall Island and away from the border.
She was later picked up by police and returned to the border where agents allegedly found multiple bags of undeclared fine-cut tobacco in the trunk of the vehicle.
Jacobs is now facing charges of hindering an officer and evading compilance.
