Onondaga County facing DEC penalties over sewage leak

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation may impose penalties against Onondaga County for the massive sewage spill.

Over the past two weeks more than 18-million-gallons of sewage poured into Onondaga Lake due to a broken pipe. The 50-year-old 42-inch pipe broke during a record-breaking rain storm last month causing more than half the spill, repairs required millions more gallons of sewage flow. reports that the regional director for the DEC says he's still waiting for a report before they make any decisions on the matter.
