A local north country resident is on a crusade to have all 524 waterfalls in the State of New York given a name, including three in Jefferson County.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, Dave Schryver of Pillar Point has approached several government entities, including the Watertown City Council, in an effort to gain support for naming various water falls in the state. In Jefferson County, Mr. Schryver is looking to have the 20-foot waterfall located east of the Mill Street Bridge named the Great Falls. Schryver is hoping the endeavor will promote the region and spur tourism.
