Lewis County has one of the highest rates of suicide in New York state. That's according to numbers compiled by syracuse.com.
Throughout the state, the average of suicides per a population of 100,000 is 8.4, but in Lewis County that number is at 22.1.
Conversely, St. Lawrence County has one of the lowest rates of suicide in New York, with a rate of 8.3 per 100,000.
Jefferson County rates about average, coming in at about the middle with its rate.
Hamilton County has the state's highest rate of suicides at 28 per a population of 100,000.
