Police are continuing to investigate a fatal Thanksgiving Day hunting accident.

According to troopers, 24-year-old Kristopher Paro shot his dad, 58-year-old Kevin Paro, in the chest at about 4:40 Thursday afternoon near their Sandy Creek home.

According to documents, the son was hunting in the woods alone and didn't know his dad had also gone out to hunt.

The younger Paro shot his .270 caliber rifle from his tree stand, striking his dad about 100 yards away.

State police and the DEC are working together in the investigation.
