A Supreme Court judge is ruling that the state must release nearly $70 million in funding to struggling schools.
Four-months ago parents representing schools in Albany, Yonkers and the Bronx sued the state division of budget asking that the state release the grant money.
The funding will be spread to 19 schools across the state that had the label of "persistently struggling" removed earlier this year. Governor Andrew Cuomo had directed the funds be withheld because of their improvement.
Parents argued that funding shouldn't be pulled as soon as progress is beginning to show.
