Onondaga County DA: Uber and Lyft would take drunk drivers off the road

If New York lawmakers ever allow ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft in upstate, it could significantly help curb drunken driving. That's according to Onondaga County District Attorney William FitzPatrick.

FitzPatrick believes companies would be successful outside of New York City so long as they are run correctly and avoid long waits and poor service.
Going further, Fitzpatrick added that Uber and Lyft will eventually come to upstate "after the State Assembly stops pretending that its members suddenly care about public safety."
