An alleged convicted sex offender is now an ex-employee of the Watertown YMCA. That's what the new CEO, Denise Young, told 7 News on Tuesday.

The man was evidently working part-time in maintenance at the Fairgrounds Y, and after a three-month trial period and a review by the "new administration," he was let go.

Young told 7 that despite his being fired, the man "posed no threat to any member's safety."

His employment reportedly created a stir on Facebook and other social media outlets.
