Verdict expected soon in Brenda Roth manslaughter trial

Brenda Roth instructed kids to lie to police after 15-year-old Derick Holton overdosed and died in her Deer River home in 2014. That's what she eventually said after initially being questioned by police.

Roth is standing trial on charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Both sides rested their cases on Wednesday.

Police claim that Roth gave Holton and the other teens the prescription drugs and then failed to call for help.

At the time of the incident, Roth told authorities that she didn't call 911 when Holton first showed signs of trouble because she was scared.

The presiding judge is also acting as jury and is expected to rule shortly after closing arguments today.
