A well-known car dealership, along with an employee, pleaded guilty in St. Lawrence County Court to burying hazardous substances.

Mahoney's Auto Mall out of Potsdam and 33-year-old Andrew Fuller both admitted to violating state Environmental Conservation Law. Fuller was initially said to have buried four 55-gallon drums full of oil, filters and tires. A DEC search in 2014 also turned up an unprotected area full of trash, along with improperly disposed auto fluids.

Mahoney's paid over $150,000 in penalties, while Fuller was hit with a $37,500 fine and is facing three years of probation.
