The New York State Zoo at Thompson Park in Watertown reportedly passed a surprise inspection.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, the U.S. Department of Agriculture stopped in at the zoo recently to conduct a three-hour long review. It marks the second passed inspection in a row since the USDA found several violations and issues with the zoo back in June. Officials are calling the results "a breath of fresh air," as they are looking for nearly $100,000 in funds from both the city of Watertown and Jefferson County just to stay in business.
There will also be a new capital campaign launched soon that has a goal of $2 million.
