A new proposal could cause big changes for hunters in New York.
Senator Thomas O'Mara out of the Southern Tier has proposed a type of ban on hunting immature bucks.
If passed, it would impose limits on the various antlered deers being taken via bowhunting, firearms and muzzeloaders. The idea is to "expand the Yearling Buck Protection Program" because most hunters are, according to the bill, "dissatisfied with their buck hunting experience" in the state.
It's not known how much, if any, support the measure will have in either the Assembly or Senate.
