The Jefferson County man accused of killing his girlfriend's six-week-old child pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Thursday.
Twenty-four-year-old Jeremiah Garnett of Philadelphia pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter after originally being charged with second-degree murder.
Garnett allegedly caused a severe brain injury to the baby at his girlfriend's apartment while she was at work last year.
The boy was rushed to a Syracuse hospital where he eventually died. Garnett is now facing 17 years behind bars at his sentencing in May.
