After an unanimous vote on Monday, Watertown City Council officially picked Terlouw Construction to install the new playground at Thompson Park.
The construction company out of Connecticut was the lowest bidder, expecting to charge just over $67,000 to set up the equipment. Terlouw came in about $1,100 cheaper than what the city planned on spending for the project.
The entire bidding process took longer than expected, with companies coming in with high prices. The second attempt to find a business turned up zero offers, although it's been reported that one bid actually came in after deadline.
With the Terlouw officially on board, the Watertown Daily Times reports work to install the $385,000 playground could officially get going May 1. There is a community day set up for later next month for residents to help pitch in.
The old playground was torn down this past fall.
