Paying for health insurance and covering unpaid school taxes are some of the reasons there was a budget crunch in Ogdensburg late last year.

That shortfall has lawmakers rethinking the city's bookkeeping policies. According to 7 News, Ogdensburg is $700,000 short and now the city manager is applying to have state officials come in and oversee finances and operational duties.

The mayor told 7 News that Ogdensburg is going to be "monitoring the budget more closely" in way to prevent any last-minute issues like what happened this past fall.
