State officials there have been "substantive changes" made to education standards that make up Common Core. And now, residents in New York will have their chance to voice their opinions on the controversial measures.
Due to years of backlash, education officials tweaked the standards while "maintaining the rigor of Common Core."
From when it was first implemented, the goal for officials with the process was to improve student's abilities and to better assess the performances of teachers.
Public comments are being accepted through June 2, with the updated standards expected to be adopted in June.
