Another day, another plea from North Country officials dealing with flooding.
This time, Jefferson County Legislators asked to double the amount of National Guard troops filling sandbags in Chaumont. As well as asking that the troops stay past their scheduled Friday departure.
And according to Spectrum News, the troops will be in the area longer to help, with the state also sending an extra sandbagging machine.
Previously, Chaumont's fire chief requested for more community volunteers help fill the bags to then be used to attempt to combat flood waters along Lake Ontario.
Water levels in the lake and St. Lawrence River aren't expected to receed for weeks.
