You can add another name to the list of potential candidates hoping to replace Mary Rain as St. Lawrence County District Attorney.

Now former Canton town justice James Monroe told the Watertown Daily Times he will be running for the position this coming November. Monroe is in private practice and resigned as town judge earlier this week in order to campaign for District Attorney.

While Rain is not going to seek a second term in office, Monroe, a Democrat, is entering a field that includes Rain's one-time chief assistant, David Haggard (also a Democrat) as well as Republican Franklin County Assistant District Attorney Gary Pasqua.
