There will not be any money going to the closed off pool at Thompson Park in Watertown, but the lawmakers decided to include $55,000 for the struggling zoo in the latest city budget.

Meeting at City Hall Monday, City Council agreed on a $42.7 million spending plan that will call for an increase of about 3.6 percent on property taxes.

According to the Watertown Daily Times, Council members Teresa Maculso and Stephen Jennings were against spending on the pool, with Jennings saying he would remain a "no vote."

As for the New York State Zoo, officials initially pleaded with Council to up funding in order for it to stay in business. Lawmakers agreed to contribute the extra money this year and another planned $25,000 next year to help cover expenses.

The budget will be adopted officially at the next scheduled meeting.
