The city of Watertown Fire Department responds to about 12 to 15 overdose calls per week.
That's what battalion chief James Holland told 7 News about the current drug climate. In fact, Holland said Narcan--which is used by first responders to slow down a heroin or fentanyl overdose--is needed on about 20 percent of the time.
Those types of OD calls are so prevalent, 7 News reports two doses of Narcan are typically used per overdose emergency.
Battalion chief Holland claims that the department's use of the life-saving kits has had positive results every time.
