A month into the school year and, according to the Watertown Daily Times, it's relatively smooth sailing on Washington Street.
That stretch of roadway in front of the Watertown City School District complex was changed over this past summer, with four lanes reduced to two--with a middle turning lane added in.
The Times spoke with five motorists in the area Tuesday, with four saying the changes made it safer for students to get to school.
Alterations were done after a student was struck by a vehicle while crossing Washington Street last spring.
Initially, Watertown City School had issues with the new setup with its busses, but those were ironed out over the first week of school back in September.
