Hunters are reportedly having a better time out in the woods than they did last year.
According to numbers compiled from the DEC, hunters in what's considered the Northern Zone of the state have taken about 18 percent more deer this hunting season.
According the Watertown Daily Times, the DEC Commissioner said "hunters are having greater success this year" compared to this time last year.
The bear numbers for the zone, however, are down from 450 last fall to 291 so far in 2017.
All of the final numbers for all of New York won't be released until sometime after the first of the year.
