Business owners and Watertown city officials are set to meet today regarding the future of Public Square.
The meeting comes after the state suggested using some of a $10 million grant on shutting off the southern portion of the Square to traffic. It would create four lanes of traffic on the north side, and something of a pedestrian mall on the south side.
In response, Matt Strader, who own's Cam's Pizzeria, started a petition, collecting hundreds of signatures from people against making significant changes to Public Square.
The deadline to finalize all plans for the state grant is in March.
