Did you know that Lewis County is considered a hotbed for Christmas trees?
Using data compiled by the Census of Agriculture, syracuse.com ranked the top 20 counties based how many trees are typically chopped down, strapped to a car, and brought home to be the centerpiece during the holidays.
According to the numbers, over 25,800 future Christmas trees were chopped down in 2017 in Lewis County, ranking it second in New York.
Onondaga County with 33,800-plus chopped came in at number one in the rankings.
