Governor Andrew Cuomo says the state's new paid family leave policy will be the strongest in the nation.

Starting in January, New Yorkers can get up to twelve weeks of paid time off for family emergencies. This includes when a family member has to care for a new child or seriously ill loved one, or is called to active military service abroad.
This will apply to those working 20 or more hours a week.
