The quick actions of a Lewis County man helped stop a blaze from potentially getting worse earlier this week.
According to officials, Megan Branch heard a noise near the wood stove of her Constableville home at about 10:20 Tuesday night. Branch then allegedly saw flames on the outside of the residence.
Her boyfriend jumped into action and was able to extinguish "most of the fire" before crews from the West Leydon Fire Department arrived on scene.
Damage from the flames was contained to "siding and outside wall of addition" of the home.
