After five decades, the Watertown City School District is making a switch when it comes to its busses.
The Watertown Daily Times reports the school board recently voted to end its deal with Freeman Bus Corp and switch to First Student Transportation.
After putting the services out for bid, First Student's price tag for the district came in about $6.7 million cheaper than Freeman's bid.
Several Freeman employees urged officials to reconsider the move at a board meeting this week. Despite thier protesting, the deal with First Student starts up for 2018-19 school year and runs through 2022-23.
First Student will take over busing duties this coming July.
