The price tag is now $3 million for the city of Watertown to build a brand-new courthouse.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, on Monday, City Council reviewed the plans calling to construct a "stand alone" building off Arsenal and Arcade streets that would be connected to the County Courthouse via an elevated walkway.
The Times reports the structure would be two stories and would be owned by the city, with officials expecting to have renderings of the new courthouse by March.
Officials have been attempting to find a new space for City Court after the state required Watertown to have two full-time judges with two courtrooms.
Previously, it was reported updating the current courtroom in City Hall would cost over $2 million.
