You can add Lewis County to the growing lawsuit against drug manufacturing companies.
It's actually an about face from lawmakers, who previously voted to not join the class action suit. But according to 7 News, the County Legislature agreed to sign up with the lawfirm Simmons, Hanly, Conroy PC in its attempt to put blame on "Big Pharma" for the nationwide opioid epidemic.
Legislature Chair Larry Dolhof told 7, if there is a courtroom win, he wants whatever money is awarded to go toward recovering "some of the costs that the county incurs with the expense of the opioid addiction."
Several other counties have already signed on to the suit, including St. Lawrence County.
