The flu isn't snowing signs of slowing down in New York just yet, as the newest numbers show confirmed cases were up 35 percent statewide from the week before.
Central New York has, by far, the highest flu rates of any region in the state.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is trying to get emergency funding to make flu shots more accessible and slow the virus.
Meanwhile, Lewis County General Hospital is using a nose swab to test for the virus. A swipe of the inside of the nostril is reviewed by lab techs to determine if an individual has the flu.
Those results, according to 7 News, will then be used to help develop vaccines for the next flu season.
