Despite a potential delay in opening, the planned splash pad at Watertown's Thompson Park is still set to open this coming spring.
The group "Friends of Thompson Park" is reportedly close to raising its goal of $175,000 to go to the pad, with state grants and the city covering the rest of the cost.
However, the Watertown Daily Times reports the splash pad won't be ready in May, but instead it will likely open at some point in June.
Meanwhile, Friends of Thompson Park is pushing the city to improve parking, add restrooms and expand trails throughout the area.
One initiative the group won't tackle is a dog park, as the group told City Council it had no interest in helping the potential project.
