Weeks after Code Enforcement officials condemned two upstairs apartments, the Crystal Restaurant in downtown Watertown has temporarily closed its doors.

The home of the iconic "Tom and Jerry" drink was not condemned, but the Crystal closed "to protect the health and safety of our customers and the integrity of our service."
The restaurant's Facebook page stated it's shut down "to fully remedy the situation."
It's a move coming after the city reportedly found "cockroaches, garbage and broken utilities" inside the two separately-owned apartments above the eatery.
The Watertown Daily Times reports the building's owner, Ricky Frazer, has to pay for the cleaning and exterminating services conducted by the city on the units.
The Crystal, meanwhile, will reopen but there is no word this morning on when that will happen.
