Freeman Bus Corporation officials say that they are moving forward.

According to 7 News, the company's long standing bus contract with the Watertown City School District will end and the district will start a new contract with a national company, First Student. Twenty six drivers and two supervisors were given Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, notices this month about layoffs. Maintenance workers and drivers who can also operate motor coaches are able to stay with the company. For workers who are leaving Freeman Bus, there is still an opportunity to work with the school district. First Student is offering them positions. As for the future, the company says they will keep some of the school buses and focus on other business.
