Fire Department Union Planning 3 Filings Against City

The Watertown Fire Department's union is planning three legal filings against the city.

City Manager Sharon Addison is trying to eliminate a battalion chief position in charge of training, and she wants to put a captain in charge instead, would she says would save the city $25,000. Currently, Addison has put a deputy chief in charge, which union officials say the city can't do that and they'll add another three actions against city hall. Union president Dan Daugherty counters that the move would only save the city $3,000. The city and the union are fighting on a couple of fronts, and in particular, on how many firefighters have to be on duty at any one time.
