Governor Hochul announced yesterday that the Village of Lowville will be receiving $10 million dollars in Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant money. The village’s proposal for the funds includes a plan to reshape it’s downtown area by forming a regional center for business and culture, preserving the village’s environmental habitat, and enhancing the quality of life for it’s residents. They will also be investing three hundred thousand dollars in planning funds for downtown. Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush says this is a big win for Lowville, and said its past due for the rest of the state to recognize the village for its Northern Charms.
